UPS AND DOWNS
Five weeks have passed since we moved to Sweden.
Five weeks with beautiful and calm moments interspersed with sorrow and despair.
Three weeks ago, I (Valérie) started working at Alingsås Djursjukhus. Only two days a week so far as we must build the caseload and it has yet to become known that I’m there and cardiac patients can be referred to us. A rather big change compared to what I was used in Belgium… Not only regarding the number of cases, but also regarding the way of working and the fact that communication with the owner -which has always been very important to me- is much more complicated as I can’t communicate in their own language so far. Förlåt mig! Let’s give it some time and see what we’re capable of.
Try to figure out how to pronounce this… ;-)
Two weeks ago was a very sad week… My Godmother, “Marraine”, Andrea passed away, not even three weeks after we last saw each other. She was the last and oldest one from three sisters, my mother’s sister, to me “my last connection” to my mother. I’m grateful I was able to fly back and forth to Belgium to attend her funeral service, to be able to say a last goodbye.
“Moeders gaan, maar sterven niet
zij leven om te geven.
Zolang men moeders kinderen ziet
zolang zal moeder leven.”
Meanwhile another longtime friend also left this world… I’ll never forget you Frank! Too much sadness in a very short time :’-(
In addition to that, we have been offline for two days due to internet problems (of course exactly when I had to fly…). This has been solved luckily!
You see the little grey box? That’s a VIP! A “Very Important Puppy"!
But at the end of the tunnel there is some light… A little orange ball of fur named LUKA aka “Fanta’stic Red Bad Boy”, son of my dearest Rusty and his girlfriend Ojo. He was born on January 4th, 2024 in Poland and could come home at 15 weeks of age.
Sunday April 21st was D-day so Luka went on his very first flight from Warsaw (PL) to Gothenburg (SE). He was very brave and got a warm “welcome home” from the rest of our family-zoo. Needless to say I’m in love…
I had a dream 20 years ago to have a puppy of my own dog (at that time of Yggr aka “Copper and Brass’s Yggr”) but due to unforeseen health issues of Yggr it remained an unfulfilled dream. So here we are, many many years later, enjoying father Rusty and son Luka in Sweden. My heartfelt thanks to Kasia and Juliusz from “Fanta’stic Red Kennel” (PL) to make this dream come true!
Like father, like son <3
Luka aka “Fanta’stic Red Bad Boy”
Luka is settling in very well and is developing into a curious, happy, respectful but also “a-little-stubborn” little man (it’s a Toller…). I’m sure we will have lots of great adventures together!
So now our “FORTY PAWS” are finally complete!
Curious little thing! ;-)
