SEX MÅNADER I SVERIGE…

Time goes by so fast. Seven weeks again since our last post and six months already since we moved to Sweden!

But first go back to another lovely visit of dear friends and colleagues: Mathieu, Nathalie and their kids Victor and Alexander joined us for a long weekend! We spent some wonderful days visiting Marstrand (yes, again…), enjoying a hike in the neighbourhood, walking around at “Nääs fabriker” and spending lots of quality time together with good food and nice conversations. Thank you so much for visiting us and the Belgian groceries ;-)

Marstrand again... still beautiful!

Later on in August, “MultiCh Alliance de la Vie Fox And Hound” aka Rusty and “Fanta’stic Red Bad Boy” aka Luka participated in two shows in Backamo (SE). On both shows, Luka was awarded a “1st Promising” in puppy class and became “Best Puppy in Breed”. Rusty was awarded a “1st Excellent” twice in veteran class with a “Best Veteran in Breed” and “Best Male” at one of the shows as well. A good experience for Luka!

In the beginning of September, I flew to Lyon (FR) to participate in the ECVIM-CA annual congress, focusing on learning more about cardiology of course. It was also a great opportunity to see many dear friends and colleagues again!

Meanwhile, work is getting more interesting finally and some “nearby” practices have been added to complete my work scheme. Well… nearby… according to Swedish standards. One is a 100km drive, the other one is 130km. One way. From October on, I will also travel to Stockholm area every 6 to 8 weeks to work in 3 different practices.

We had wonderful weather the last weeks, so we could go for many nice hikes with the dogs. Some easy ones, some hard ones… As Alex stated: “to boldly go where no man has gone before”. No trails, just “through” everything. I even -finally!- got the chance to go swimming with Rusty and Luka in the Store-Näre lake! That was so much fun!

Let's go swimming!

Lady Aurora also showed up a few times, which means I had a few too short nights but in return could watch an amazing spectacle.

Unfortunately, “no roses without thorns”… On September 17th, we lost our sweetest purring curly clown Woody, aka Woodywoodz or “Dolfke” for his friends after a short illness with violent neurological signs. Everything went so fast, we didn’t even have the chance to find out what was wrong. Woody lost the battle. We lost the battle. He went far too soon and will be dearly missed. :’(

And after all this, we’re September 24th today, which marks 6 months after we left Belgium! Our aim was to evaluate our move after 6 months and decide whether we would stay in Sweden or come back home to Belgium. But because work at the clinic only starts to get better now (due to circumstances at the clinic, we’re now where we should’ve been in April…), we’ll have to have a little (ahum) more patience before being able to evaluate our move properly. So we decided to live through 4 seasons before final evaluation…

Also today, 3 kubic meters of dry wood was delivered. So we’re ready for winter!

Alex's Swedish is starting to get better, so he has taken his first steps into the job market with a few applications as he’s looking for a part-time.

Meanwhile, we’re also looking at houses. Several ones, because it turns out it’s not so easy to buy a house in Sweden because an offer -not even the highest- is not always accepted as such.

Let’s see what the next six months will bring… (snow probably ;-) )
