WE’RE ALL GOING ON A SUMMER HOLIDAY…

As we were thinking about moving to Sweden, we planned a roundtrip in this beautiful country in September 2023, to visit different parts of the country, to feel if we could be able to ground here.

Well… the answer is known. It was a fabulous holiday with the most wonderful views. The nature, the water, the calmness, everything was perfect.

We also visited the “AniCura Djursjukhuset Jönköping” where a Belgian colleague works. He explained a lot about work and life in Sweden, which only enhanced our interest in the country. All credits to him to bring me in contact with the right people to be able to find work as a veterinary cardiologist in Sweden.

Once home, weighing up the pros and cons could start. And to me (Valérie) the overthinking ;-)

After one month of discussing the different possibility, I contacted VetGruppen in Sweden, to find out if there would be a possibility for me to work as a veterinary cardiologist there. We wouldn’t be able to move if I couldn’t find work first. But the answer was quick and very positive!

After lots of emails and Teams meetings, I travelled to Sweden to work at Alingsås Djursjukhus for one day half November, to be able to get to know each other and discuss the possibilities. This experience was very positive in both ways, so just before Christmas we got a definitive answer that I could start there.
